Meet Smallbean
Smallbean was founded by Sean Hewens in early 2009 after a stint working in Africa as an attorney for the United Nations. Originally chartered with the simple mission of putting slightly used personal electronics to reuse in places like Tanzania, the Smallbean team has worked tirelessly over the last two years to develop our Citizen Archivist Project as a sustainable dual solution for both closing the technology gap and reversing the devastating pace of linguistic and cultural extinction throughout the developing world.
Smallbean World Headquarters is located in Boston, Massachusetts at an MIT tech incubator (stop by anytime, we love visitors). Smallbean is currently active in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda with plans to expand to Haiti and South America later this year. We are a 501(c)(3) social enterprise chartered in Massachusetts.
